D-8 Agreed to Increase Cooperation Sectors of the Industry

Eight developing countries joined in the Group D-8 (Developing Countries) agreed to increase cooperation and trade industries, including creating food security (food security program) among member countries.
The agreement was taken in the 4th meeting the Working Group on Industrial Cooperation (WGIC) D-8 in Bali, which was attended by officials at echelon 1 from Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, Bangladesh, and Egypt. D-8 memberstates have a majority Muslim population.
Secretary General D-8 Dipo Alam yesterday explaining the development of a fertilizer factory in attention between countries D-8 as part of the high level of commitment meeting in Malaysia in May 2008.
According to Dipo, in the meeting, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi stressed the need for food security programs, and the high price of food world in the future.
WGIC in the meeting also agreed to sharpen cooperation in the manufacturing sector some important, such as petrochemical, agricultural machinery, and automotive components, agro industry, electronics, textiles, and other supporting industries. This step is expected to be a breakthrough in expanding the market in the country among fellow members of D-8, in the midst of the global impact of the crisis.
Dipo Alam said the organization is also working to encourage cooperation in industry and trade between member countries.
D-8 members, he said, are expected to probe the potential for industrial cooperation and economic development, so that the value of trade intranegara D-8 increased compared with last year recorded U.S. $ 60 billion.
In 2007, the contribution of D-8 countries of the world trade reached more than U.S. $ 1 trillion, or up 4% compared with the previous year, in line with the increase in world oil prices.

Indonesia and Iran officially formed joint ventures Hengam Petrochemical Company (HPC) on 11 November 2007 in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The factory has a designed production capacity of 122,100 tons of amonia per year and 1,072 million tons of urea per year.
“We want to work with industry can be improved among fellow member countries with mutual introduce products, and encourage the private sector to see more market potential there,” he said during the meeting WGIC.
In addition to encouraging the realization of joint venture fertilizer plant between PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja and National Petrochemical Company of Iran (NPIC), said Dipo, D-8 countries are also expected to increase cooperation in the oil industry among other sectors in the development of the oil refinery, including the refinery Bojonegara.
Associated with the development of fertilizer factories, Director of PT Pusri Holding Dadang Heru Kodri recognize the development joint venture factory is still awaiting funding, as several loan disbursement from the Islamic Development Bank.
In behalf of the D-8 Organization, Dipo Alam thanked the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia for having successfully held and support this meeting by bringing together the establishment of 9 task forces, as well as cooperation among private companies. Alam said that it was very encouraging to see how industrial associations, and private sectors interested in participating in SGIC D-8 and therefore the organization will ensure to follow up any results without delay.
