Postcards Galleries from D-8 Secretary General for the 140th Anniversary of Turkish Red Crescent

kzlThe Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) celebrated its 140th Anniversary in a reception at Istanbul’s Dolmabahce Palace. Attended by various important figures such as Turkish President, Abdullah Gül; Istanbul Municipality, Muammer Güler; D-8 Secretary General, Dipo Alam; Head of Istanbul Security, Celalettin Cerrah; and around 1200 other attendants representing more than 50 countries, the reception highlighted the uprising of Kızılay as a prominent constributor to the world. “Kizilay is now a prestigious and strong institution all around the world,” President Gül said at the reception.

The Turkish Red Crescent has not only contributed to its own citizen in unfortunate event of tragedies, but also to the citizen of the world. “I am really proud to see the contributions made by Kızılay to the world,” noted the President in his speech.

From his side, the D-8 Secretary General, Dipo Alam, also underlined his admiration to Kızılay and sincerely wishes Turkish Red Crescent to continue its remarkable humanitarian actions all over the world. He also deeply thanked Kızılay for its active contribution during the tsunami catasthrope in Aceh, earthquake in Yogya, Istanbul, and cyclone disaster in Bangladesh. In the occassion, Alam also presented 40 set of his paintings in postcards format and hopes that they can also be used for activities of the Red Crescent’s future humanitarian operation in the world. Secretary General also emphasizes the significance of this kind of forum as a publication mean and campaign for D-8 in contributing its effort in humanitarian action universally.
