The Iranian Foreign Minister Reaffirmed Support for D-8

Following the tourism ministers meeting of the Developing 8 countries (D-8) in Tehran recently, the Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki voiced Iran’s support for the Group, stressing that the organization benefits all its member states. D-8 Secretary General, Dipo Alam, for his part, stressed the need for enhanced cooperation among member states in the trade and tourism sectors. Mottaki also said that Tehran does not view the Developing Eight (D-8) Countries Group as a political alliance.
In a meeting with the Foreign Minister, Alam presented Mottaki with series of developments reached under his leadership, as well as the programs ahead in the 2008-2018 Roadmap, and the preparation for the 6th Summit Meeting in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Mottaki was impressed with the progress achived by D-8 within the last one year, and reaffirm his commitment to support D-8 in its pursuits.
