D-8 Organization will hold the 2nd D-8 Expert Meeting on Ecotourism Cooperation

In line with the efforts of developing ecotourism among the D-8 Member Countries, and based on the decision of the 19th Session of Commission in Tehran, D-8 Organization will hold an expert meeting in this field on May 10-11, 2008.
The meeting will seek to cover various topics related to the development of D-8 tourism to support ecotourism campaign, such as (1) Examination of common cooperation mechanism among Ecotourism Tour Operators of D-8; (2) Discussion on framework of the draft Convention on Nature based Tourism; (3) Introduction of selected Ecotourism Sites; (4) Cooperation on Ecotourism development in the selected sites; (5) Conducting training courses and technical visits; (6) Mechanism for joint investment in Ecotourism.
The first expert meeting had suggested that member states provide and support necessary facilities for technical visits, expert visits and short training courses for the ecotourism experts of the member countries. The D-8 Organisation has pledged to continue to support this issue by holding and reinforcing coordination among memberstates.
