Istanbul, Turkey | February 29, 2008 by D-8 Secretariat

ICDTAs discussed by the Secretary General of D-8 and the Secretary General of OIC last June 2007, in Jeddah Saudi Arabia that both D-8 and OIC, including its organs, would have join cooperation in every occasion whenever the possibility is available, as well as avoiding some “re-inventing the wheel” of works. One of the ideas is to have a join publication for member states by OIC and D-8, since the member states of D-8 are also the member states of OIC.

In February 4th, 2008, in Casablanca, Morocco, the Secretary General of D-8, Dr Dipo Alam, visited the Islamic Center for Development of Trade (ICDT) and discussed some potential cooperation with Dr Allal Rachdi, the Director General of ICDT.

The meeting concluded that between D-8 and ICDT will cooperate in some cooperation projects, one of them is to conduct a Comparative Study of D-8 Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA); RoO; Custom Agreement and OIC TPSOIC/Pretas. The report of the study will also published and circulated in the D-8 Sixth Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 7-8, 2008.

The Objectives of D-8 and ICDT to conduct a Comparative Study of D-8 Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA); RoO; Custom Agreement and OIC TPSOIC/Pretas is that to ensure that both D-8 and ICDT will fully comprehend what have been negotiated.
