Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of D-8 Organisation in Istanbul

The 10th anniversary of D-8 organisation was held on June 18th, 2007 in Istanbul Çırağan Palace marked with an outstanding seminar fully attended by remarkable and enthusiastic participants. The seminar resulted in some decision to increase and speed up the cooperation process and programs between member states, as well as to set up a model economy for South-South cooperation among developing countries. The D-8 Secretary General was awarded with the opportunity to give a key-note speech, revealing his visionary action plans to bring the organisation further ahead in 10 years time.
The celebration was attended by the 54th Turkish Prime Minister, Prof. Necmettin Erbakan, who is also a leading figure in the initial establishment of the D-8 organisation with Indonesian leading figure, Prof. B.J. Habibie, to focus attention on economic and trade cooperation between the member states to fight poverty and provide a realistic economic model OIC and South-South cooperation among developing countries. In this occassion, the Secretary General presented H.E Prof Necmettin Erbakan a memoire book about Prof. B.J. Habibie, titled "Decisive Moments: Indonesia's Long Road to Democracy."
The Secretary General also gave an interview to the Turkish periodical publication of the World Bulletin, reviewing the organisation's aims to the Turkish media.
