Secretary General D-8 applauds the 139th Anniversary of Turkish Red Crescent

The Turkish Red Crescent celebrates its 139th Anniversary on June 9, 2007 by holding a commemoration in Dolmabahce Palace, Istanbul. The program was held by the Turkish Red Crescent and attended by numerous guests and participants. The D-8 Secretary General was awarded an opportunity to deliver a remark at the beginning of the commemoration, and extended his highest gratitude for the Red Crescent's contribution to the construction and rehabilitation process after the tsunami disaster in Calang, Aceh, Indonesia last December 2004. On this occasion, the Secretary General presented the Red Crescent his personal painting titled "Turkish Red Crescent in Calang", about the activity of Red Crescent in humanitarian operation in Calang, decorated with 8 flags of the member states of D8.
Secretary General sincerely wishes Turkish Red Crescent to continue its remarkable humanitarian actions all over the world, and hopes that his painting can be used for rising fund activities to the Red Crescent's future humanitarian operation in the world. Secretary General also emphasizes the significance of this kind of forum as a publication mean and campaign for D8 in contributing its effort in humanitarian action universally.
