Calligraphy By Malaysian Artists Exhibited In Egypt

A total of 53 calligraphy works by Malaysians, part of a collection by the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, are currently being exhibited in Alexandria, Egypt.
The exhibition, titled "Rhythm and Poetry in Persian Calligraphy Masterpieces" will be shown for 22 days beginning on June 3, 2007.
Culture, Arts, and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim who opened the exhibition said Malaysia fully supported such exhibition as they could help to spread Islamic works of art.
"This exhibition will help to forge unity among Muslims through appreciating art," he said in a statement issued here today.
The exhibition is the third to be held, the first being in Singapore and the second here.
The Alexandria Library is a large cultural complex near the Mediterranean Sea with eight million books.
